Arsenio Hall Signs Deal for a Late-Night Talk Show in Key Markets

Arsenio Hall is returning to late-night television.

CBS Television Distribution announced on Monday that it has signed a contract with Hall to develop a syndicated late-night talk show for the Fall of 2013.

Tribune Broadcasting, which is owned by the Chicago-based Tribune Co., will partner in the production of Hall's show, which will launch in 17 Tribune markets, including the three largest in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

The late-night show is sold in all top 10 markets and 17 of the top 20 markets. It already is sold in 52 percent of the country, said officials of CBS Television Distribution.

Hall, who recently won the latest edition of "Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC-TV, hosted The Arsenio Hall Show, a late-night syndicated talk show produced by Paramount Domestic Television. The show ran from 1986 to 1994.  CBS Television Distribution now owns Paramount Domestic Television.

Then candidate for president Bill Clinton appeared on the show in June 1992 and played "Heartbreak Hotel" on his saxophone.

"We're excited to welcome Arsenio back to the family and partnering on his new, late-night syndicated talk show," said John Nogawski, president of the CBS Television Distribution, a unit of CBS Corp., which produces and distributes 13 first-run series, including Rachael Ray, The Doctors and Dr. Phil.
