Black Educators Conference Will Study President Obama's Impact

The Association for Black Culture Centers (ABCC) will hold its 22nd annual conference in October and the meeting will focus on being black in the age of Obama.

The conference, which is scheduled for Oct. 25 to 28, 2012, at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., is titled, "Culture, Concerns and Contradictions: Being Black in the Age of Obama." 

President Barack Obama is the nation's 44th president and first black man to sit in the Oval Office.  The conference is scheduled less than a month before November's presidential election. President Obama is up for re-election.

The organization has issued a call for papers for the upcoming meeting. The abstract proposals must be 200 to 300 words, and they should be submitted electronically to Dr. Fred L. Hord, founder and executive director of the Association of Black Culture Centers, which is based at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.

Some of the topics include: impact of the Obama presidency, resistance to the Obama presidency, the Obama presidency and black student entitlement, assessing Obama impact on community and researching the Obama presidency.

The Association of Black Culture Centers membership includes more than 700 colleges, universities and affiliates located in all 50 states, the Caribbean and West Africa.
