Jesse Jackson, Jr., Released from Mayo Clinic

U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., has been released from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he was being treated for a bipolar disorder, but it is not clear when he will return to work.

A spokesperson for the Mayo Clinic declined to confirm to The NorthStar News & Analysis that Jackson, who represents Illinois’s 2nd Congressional District, had been released from the hospital last week. Hospital physicians admitted Jackson on July 28.

Jackson returned to Washington, D.C., after his release, The NorthStar News has learned. The Mayo Clinic spokesperson referred all questions to Rick Bryant on Jackson’s staff. Bryant did return a call for comment.

Jackson’s release occurred before the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 42nd Annual Legislative Conference, which is scheduled for September 19-22 in Washington, D.C. The foundation is the nonprofit arm of the Congressional Black Caucus, of which Jackson is a member.

Jackson attended last year’s conference, also held in Washington.
